Ann Tanzy

Ann Tanzy was born and raised in Charlotte, NC, and has been working and developing her art for over 20 years. Though she started with oils, once she began using watercolors, she never looked back. Ann has studied at Central Piedmont and in private instruction. In addition, she spent several years honing her craft at Andy Braitman’s studio, working with Andy and other instructors there. Her art has been shown in multiple galleries in both Charlotte and Waxhaw and Ann is regularly asked to donate her artwork for charity auctions.

In the past year, Ann found herself powerfully drawn to watercolor abstracts. As she studied these, she became wrapped up in the colors and textures that abstracts offer. After struggling for several years with her process, she has developed a technique that is uniquely hers.

Her goal for 2010 and beyond is to take the abstracts and find a way to bring some realism to them. Ann is deter-mined to change and grow with her art in order to keep it fresh and exciting.
Ann lives in Waxhaw, NC with her husband and cat, Fluffer. The Tanzy’s have two grown daughters.
